Relief Starts With the Right Diagnosis

Learn more about the conditions and injuries that impact the hand, wrist, elbow, and shoulder, along with the advanced treatments available to help you heal.

Sports Injuries

Sports injuries commonly affect the hand, wrist, elbow, and shoulder due to repetitive motions, impact, or overuse.

Conditions such as rotator cuff tears, tennis elbow, and wrist sprains can lead to pain and restricted movement. Proper treatment helps restore function and prevent long-term damage, allowing athletes to maintain strength and mobility.

Hand & Wrist Pain

Hand and wrist pain can result from arthritis, nerve compression, ligament injuries, or overuse conditions like carpal tunnel syndrome and tendonitis.

Symptoms often include stiffness, numbness, or swelling, making daily tasks difficult. Identifying the cause helps determine whether treatments like splinting, therapy, injections, or surgical intervention are necessary to restore function.

Shoulder Pain

Shoulder pain can be caused by conditions such as rotator cuff injuries, bursitis, frozen shoulder, or arthritis. These conditions may result in stiffness, weakness, or difficulty lifting the arm.

Pain can worsen with overhead activities or while sleeping. Depending on the severity, treatment options range from physical therapy and injections to surgical repair.

Elbow Pain

Elbow pain often stems from repetitive strain, tendon injuries, arthritis, or nerve compression. Conditions such as tennis elbow, golfer’s elbow, and cubital tunnel syndrome can cause discomfort and reduced strength.

Symptoms may include pain with gripping, lifting, or bending the arm. Treatment often focuses on relieving strain, reducing inflammation, and restoring movement.

Elbow Sprains

An elbow sprain occurs when the ligaments supporting the joint are stretched or torn, often due to sudden impact or injuries over time, such as with throwing athletes.

Symptoms include pain, swelling, and difficulty moving the arm or throwing. Mild sprains may heal with rest, bracing, and physical therapy, while severe cases may require more advanced treatments or surgery.

Arthritis

Arthritis affects the joints of the hand, wrist, elbow, and shoulder, leading to pain, stiffness, and reduced range of motion.

Osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis are the most common types. Symptoms may worsen over time, but treatments such as anti-inflammatory medication, therapy, and injections, and surgery help manage pain and improve function.

Bursitis occurs when the small, fluid-filled sacs (bursae) that cushion the joints become inflamed, often due to repetitive motion or prolonged pressure.

It commonly affects the elbow and shoulder, causing swelling, tenderness, and discomfort. Rest, anti-inflammatory medications, physical therapy, injections, and surgery can help alleviate pain and restore movement.

Fractures

A fracture, or broken bone, in the hand, wrist, elbow, or shoulder can make even the simplest movements painful. We specialize in both non-surgical and surgical fracture care, ensuring proper alignment and stabilization for optimal healing. Depending on the severity, treatment may involve casting, splinting, or surgical fixation with plates, screws, or pins to restore strength and mobility.

Nerve Injuries

Nerve injuries or compression, such as in the wrist (carpal tunnel syndrome) or elbow (cubital tunnel syndrome), can cause numbness, tingling, and weakness, making simple tasks difficult. Our team provides specialized care, offering non-invasive treatments like bracing, therapy, and injections. When necessary, surgical procedures may be necessary to restore hand and wrist function for long-term relief.

What Patients Are Saying

Hear from real patients about their experiences with Dr. Sollaccio’s expert care and personalized treatment.

I recently had a very serious incident that shattered my right arm, and wrist (and other issues) which desperately needed surgery. I was referred to Dr. Sollaccio who saw me the same day and performed the surgery the following day! He did an awesome job as indicated by the fact that I am typing this message easily and pain free. And great bedside manor, very patient, I never felt rushed. It also didn’t hurt that when other doctors and nurses asked who did my surgery and I told them, it was almost a unanimous response, ‘Ohhh you got lucky, he’s good!’ Highly recommended.

T.L.

Dr. Sollaccio is incredible. When I got to him my injury was two days old, infection was setting in and acute compartment syndrome. Dr. S took one look, scheduled surgery for the same night and by the time I woke up from surgery all of my excruciating pain was gone. His energy is calming and comforting, he is patient and takes the time to explain details and answer all questions. He’s such a caring Dr and truly wants the best for his patients. Thank you Dr. Sollaccio for everything you’ve done for me!

E.M.

Dr. Sollaccio has provided me with excellent care and follow-up from my surgery. By the way, you can barely see the sutures and it has only been 6 weeks post operation – it is as though a plastic surgeon did the surgery. Also, the surgery is very successful

G.B.

Thank you so much for the great job you did. It is amazing to be pain free, just like when I was young! You are very talented and professional. You made a 60 year old man feel strong again as if he’s 20 years old again. Your staff were amazing and kind. Thank you all.
