Day of Surgery
- Arrival & Check-In
- Arrive at the surgical center or hospital at the instructed time.
- Bring a valid ID and insurance card.
- Anesthesia & Surgery
- Your surgeon and anesthesiologist will review the anesthesia plan with you.
- The procedure duration depends on complexity but typically lasts between 30 minutes to 2 hours.
- Recovery & Discharge
- If you are having day surgery, remember the following:
- Have someone available to take you home, as you will not be able to drive for at least 24 hours.
- Do not drink or eat anything in the car on the trip back home, as the combination of anesthesia, food, and car motion can often cause nausea or vomiting.
- After arriving home, wait until you are hungry before eating. Start with a light meal and avoid greasy food for the first 24 hours.
- Postoperative instructions, prescriptions, and follow-up appointments will be provided.
